Family Counselling
Overview:
Pride & Prejudice provides family counselling for 2SLGBTQ+ youth (age 12 to 24) and their parents/caregivers. Both youth and parents/caregivers would start in therapy together at CTYS.
All of our therapists also identify within the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, center Anti-Oppression psychotherapy in their work, and use and Attachment-based Family Therapy approach.
Our therapists support a multitude of topics, including:
- Navigating relationships with family, explore ruptures, and creating a pathway for repair
- Navigating and exploring gender identity and/or sexual orientation
- The impact of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, transmisogyny and other forms of oppression (such as racism or ableism) on the youth and family.
- Confronting traumatic experiences, including childhood abuse or family violence.
Eligibility
All 2SLGBTQ+ and questioning youth (ages 12-24) and their parents/caregivers living in the City of Toronto (or with a postal code starting with ‘M’)
