Guidelines

We are very excited about you sharing your work on Vision Restored – a creative blog for youth by youth. Sharing one’s artwork on a public forum such as a blog can be an amazing opportunity to create voice, however it can also be a vulnerable experience too. This is why we take safety and self-disclosure very seriously.

In order to promote the maximum possible safety around self-disclosure, we ask you to take a minute to read, reflect, and follow these guidelines:

  • To protect your identity, we encourage you to come up with an artistic alias under which we will publish your artwork. We suggest this because of the sensitive nature of some of our stories, and because we never know where the future may take us. For example, we might wake up one day and decide we no longer wish to have our real name connected to our artwork. That being said, using an alias is not mandatory and your given name can be used at your discretion.
  • We also ask that the names of other people appearing in a written work be changed and that no addresses or locations are given. This is to ensure that other people who appear in stories are kept anonymous and safe.
  • In the case where a person discloses self-harm or harm to someone else, a CTYS staff person will be required to reach out to you and make sure you or others are ok.

Thank you for taking the time to read about safety and self-disclosure on Vision Restored. If you have any questions about what is written, feel free to reach out via email: [email protected].

We look forward to sharing your creative expressions!
